New tools added to Digimap

A raft of updates have been applied to Digimap ROAM run by EDINA at the University of Edinburgh.  The main two features that have been added are Annotation and Measuring Tools.

Measuring Tools

Users can now measure distances and calculate areas in Digimap ROAM. The tools are easy to use, just click the icon above the map and then click on the map to define the feature you wish to measure, double click to complete the feature. Simple.

Annotation Tools

Annotating online maps has been a request that many Digimap users have made over the years. The new annotation tools are a first pass to investigate “what users want”. They should be easy and intuitive to use and should allow users to make simple, customised maps without having to instal and learn how to use GIS software.  There are help pages available that should get users up to speed with the new functionality. In addition, we have added a YouTube video that demonstrates how they work.

If you have any feedback on the new tools, the Digimap team would love to hear them.
